World Trade Organization

Solomon Islands acceded to the WTO as an original member in July 1996. As a Member, Solomon Islands is a party to the Marrakesh Agreement, including the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) and the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS) amongst others.

The last Trade Policy Review of Solomon Islands was conducted by the WTO Secretariat in 1998. A summary can be found here, on the WTO website. The next Trade Policy Review will be conducted in the first week of May 2009, in Geneva.

Solomon Islands is represented at the WTO by the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat office in Geneva.

Doha

WTO Members are currently (as of late 2008) negotiating the Doha Development Round. The following paper by DET discusses the most imminent implications for Solomon Islands, should the Round complete:
